The Art Of Composition
"Photography is more than a medium for the factual communication of ideas. It is a creative art." - Ansel Adams
The Art Of Composition
What do you want to include in your photograph?
(What do you want to leave out?)
What focal length should you use?
How close or far away do you want to get?
What angle or viewpoint is right for you?
By asking yourself the above questions, you are challenged to think about how you are 'Designing' Your Image".
Composition is arranging and putting elements together by using conscious thought. The first step to improving design is to be aware of the camera's viewfinder, the small window that crops your photograph from the larger image we can see.
There are rules to follow and rules to break. Remember to organise the elements of your composition by finding an interesting point of view. The focal length you use, the distance from the subject, the light conditions and your perceptivity will affect your images.
